Musician. Drummer. Educator
Musicien. Batteur. Éducateur

Peter Colantonio is a professional drummer based in Montreal, Canada. His strong musical instincts and dynamic sensitivity allow him to adapt to practically any musical situation. Since earning his B.Mus in Jazz Studies from McGill University, he has fully immersed himself in the vibrant and diverse Montreal music scene and has toured all across the country.

His interest in combining live drums with electronic music led him to becoming a member of Raveen. They have performed regularly in Montreal, appearing in festivals such as Montreal Jazz Festival, Montréal En Lumière, MEG Fest, and POP Montreal. Their 2017 LP Always took them on tour though Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritime provinces, garnering favourable reviews from the independent music press.

Other artists he has worked with include Andréanne Martin, Clay Hazey, Cécile Doo-Kingué, Beth McKenna Quintet and Jazz Orchestra, Samito/SPRLUA, Ron di Lauro, Rapallo, Vaero, Sharon Azrieli, and The Lyonz.

Peter is very active as a pit musician for musical theatre productions. In 2015 he played in the world premiere and cast album of The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (Segal Centre, Ghostlight Records) with music by Academy Award winning composer Alan Menken. He was also part of the 2017 revival of Michel Tremblay’s work Demain Matin Montreal M’Attend (Théâtre du Nouveau Monde and Tour of Quebec) which won a Félix award for Spectacle d’année: Interprête at the 2018 ADISQ gala. Other musical theatre credits include: Waitress (ComediHa!), L’Homme de la Mancha (Théâtre du Rideau Vert), The Hockey Sweater (National Arts Centre), Million Dollar Quartet, The Producers (Segal Centre), Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Eclipse Theatre, Toronto), Belles Soeurs: The Musical (NAC, Charlottetown Festival), Hairspray and Catch Me If You Can (Cote St. Luc Dramatic Society).
